To be honest — we're not asking for donations right now.

Fire Aware is an independent, founder-led project and the modest infrastructure behind it is currently covered, so nothing on this page is an appeal. Every part of this site is free and always will be. If you came here to give money, please keep it — genuinely. The thing that actually helps is sharing Fire Aware with your Instagram circle, your neighbours, or your local fire department. If our costs ever outgrow what one person can carry, we'll say so here plainly and first — not before.

Fire Aware is 100% free and open to the public. We never gate life-saving evacuation perimeters or smoke forecasts behind paywalls. What follows explains what a contribution would support — server time, satellite data processing, and alert infrastructure — but there is no active campaign behind it today. This page exists to be transparent about how the platform is funded, not to ask.

100% Dedicated to Infrastructure: If a contribution is ever needed, it goes only to server bandwidth, satellite API feeds, and open data access — never to advertising or salaries.

When active fire perimeters threaten populated valleys, traffic surges 100x. Donations maintain multi-region edge servers that deliver sub-second map tile loading under intense traffic.

High-Frequency Data Ingestion

Finances the high-throughput APIs parsing NASA FIRMS hotspots, Environment Canada meteorological alerts, and BC Wildfire Service GIS perimeters round the clock.

Public Safety Gateways

Maintains the infrastructure for location-aware point-in-polygon evacuation alerts, DriveBC camera routing, and free CSV data exports for wildfire researchers and educators.
