Fire Aware BC Place Fire Context

Wildfire context near a selected place

Review current BC Wildfire Service incident points and historical fire records within 50 km of a selected BC community, residential address or public place. A residential street address is supported and is assessed at the address service's own point for it. This page does not calculate a property risk score, predict a fire, or determine whether a home is safe.

Community names are matched against Fire Aware's bundled list of BC places and never leave the browser. Street addresses are looked up as you type through the Province of British Columbia's public address service (no key, no account, no advertising identifier); the Province sees the partial address you type. The address you pick is shown back to you in your own report so you can confirm the right property — but it is never stored, never posted to Fire Aware and never written into this page's URL or a shared link; only the coordinates of the matched point are sent by POST to Fire Aware for nearby public-data queries. Do not enter unit numbers, postal codes, gate codes or other confidential information.

Use my location asks your browser for a position and then reads it against the same bundled BC list, so it reports the community you are in rather than a street address. The position is never reverse-geocoded, never written to this page's URL and never included in a shared link; outdoors, far from any listed community, the point stays approximate and is labelled as such.
